Matt Schneider
PhD Candidate
Department of English

Matt Schneider began his PhD in English in 2009 after receiving an MA in English at the University of Alberta. His Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)-funded dissertation, RARchive Fever: The Materiality of Videogames, explores the diverse material ecosystem of videogames and demonstrates the central role this material existence plays in shaping texts that are often thought of as being entirely divorced from a material existence. More broadly, Matt’s work considers the materiality of digital environments, drawing on the fields of bibliography, textual scholarship, book history, and media archaeology.
